Coalition to Honor Ground Zero: Burning a Koran on September 11th irresponsible and wrong

by Editors on September 7, 2010

STATEMENT FROM THE COALITION TO HONOR GROUND ZERO

The Coalition to Honor Ground Zero has learned that Minister Terry Jones has stated he will be burning a Koran on September 11th.

We find such an idea irresponsible and wrong.

We uphold the Minister’s freedom of speech and assembly, yet with rights come responsibilities; we urge him not to go ahead with his plans of burning a People’s religious book.

If Burning the Quran is irresponsible and insensitive then for sure building a Mosque @ ground Zero would far out last any book burning event.

Personally, We have already lost Our fight against Muslim extremism. Especially When We cannot express ourselves freely without Muslims being Offended.

Remember this is America, Freedom of Religion and freedom of expression. Can’t have one without the other.

What is this church trying to accomplish by burning the Muslim holy book? What they don’t know is that burning the Quran is regarded as a great offense in the Islamic world. This foolish act will put US civilians and military in danger overseas & at home and risk our military goals. Islamic extremists who wish & pray for a platform to spew their nonsense & dangerous agenda will have a major opportunity to do so.

We find not only burning the Quran distasteful for the Islamic world but also building a mosque near Ground Zero distasteful as well for those families who are constantly reminded of that horrific day.
